Actually, if you remember to hand-hold it the second time when coming up off the HD, you don't actually *have* to recompile a custom kernel (though it's always the better thing to do if you want a leaner kernel). The dset utility in /etc/rc will snapshot the changes you made the second time back to the kernel image. Just FYI! Jordan
