Howdy, I am trying to get a slip connection working on i386 NetBSD
I am however having difficulty connecting to the port. I am able
to change stty setting using the mentioned sleep 1000 </dev/tty00
command mentioned in the faq but the cu and tip commands give
an error:

[toor] ~> tip boca
link down
[toor] ~> tail -1 /etc/remote
boca:tty00:dv=/dev/tty00:br#57600:at=hayes:
[toor] ~> cu -l tty00
Connected. < Fine here. but then I type
cu: write: Input/output error < a character and get this
                                     < io error. Hmmm.
Disconnected.
[toor] ~>

Any suggestions?
