This is a ridiculous assertion. It's even documented in the handbook, and that's been freely available on http://www.freebsd.org for some time. No, there's no book, but somehow a number of people have still managed to figure this out. How 'bout that? I guess the declining educational standards of your generation haven't entirely ruined everyone's abiltity to do the simplest types of research (the reference to that URL, BTW, is only scattered through about 10 different prominent locations of the online and installation doc). You're also assuming that the Linux guy had somehow read about the Linux firewall features (which were ported from FreeBSD, BTW) in a book. Just how the hell do you know that? If he read about it on the net, does that mean that Linux's firewalling features don't exist? Frankly, Michael, I wish you'd either write the book yourself or simply shut your trap. I read your flame to the other guy about how you'd do it yourself if only you weren't so gosh-darned busy, didn't have inflamed corns, needed to take the dog to the vet, etc etc and your excuses have become as tiresome as have your tirades on the topic. It's time for you to put up or shut up, and you can save your feeble excuses for someone stupid enough not to see them for the cop-outs that they really are. That someone does not include myself. >I don't want to see FreeBSD take a backseat to Linux. That would be bad >for FreeBSD, bad for Linux and bad for free software in general. The Michael, I've always been the first to say that a book would be a very fine thing to have, but please do us all a favor - stay OFF our side! You only discredit those who actually have something meaningful to say. Jordan
