Most Linux commercial software is still ZMAGIC or QMAGIC a.out. The NetBSD ABI code (which is now shared between NetBSD and FreeBSD) can run ELF binaries, but until there are some commercial binaries that depend on ELF, the changes from NetBSD to support them will probably not be rolled into the main line source base.
