It happens when the CDROM drive is being accessed. The CDROM drive is a Plextor 4PLEX. My configuration includes an ARCHIVE Python SCSI 4mm tape drive (not in use when the problem occurs), and a QUANTUM LIGHTNING 730S (with and without a swap slice). I am a recent convert from Linux... and yes Linux did not have the problem. > Most times, this message keeps scrolling across the console, the SCSI > bus activity light is on solid, and the machine is completely locked up. > Once in a great while, I'll see a few of the above messages followed by: > ahc_scsi_cmd0: more than 256 DMA segs > sd0: oops not queued > biodone: buffer already done > And once it seems this caused: > /: bad dir ino 2 at offset 0: mangled entry > panic: bad dir > dumping to dev 40, offset 32768 > ahc0: not responding > The machine is a 486DX50 EISA/VESA w/16MB, with an Adaptec 2742AT EISA > SCSI card.
