I too am having this problem.  It happens when the CDROM drive is being
accessed.  The CDROM drive is a Plextor 4PLEX.  My configuration includes
an ARCHIVE Python SCSI 4mm tape drive (not in use when the problem occurs),
and a QUANTUM LIGHTNING 730S (with and without a swap slice).

I am a recent convert from Linux... and yes Linux did not have the problem.
