Hello,

I am having a problem with the bsd remote printing services. Hopefully,
someone has run in to this before and can lend some assistance.

The systems are Motorola RISCs with Motorola's SVR3. Everything works fine
unless we try to print very large files. Unfortunately, we have the need to
run some rather large reports (1000 pages plus). What happens when we run
these reports is that it prints approx 350 pages and then chokes out with a
"file to large" error.

I have checked all available documentation and the only thing that I
could come up with was to try adding the -s switch to lpr. This causes
lpr to use a symbolic link to the file to be printed rather than move it to
the spool directory. It seemed to help a little: we were able to get about
500 pages printed before getting the "file to large" error.

This problem is not covered in any documentation that I can find, and I would
greatly appreciate it if someone could lend some insight. What I would like
to know is, can this be fixed easily or is it possibly a problem in the
actual bsd code, like they used int rather than long int?

Please email any suggestions to me at:

Thanks in advance,
Kyle Amon
