It is an "alpha" quality release intended primarily for kernel hackers and protocol experimenters. The encryption library and related portions of the IPsec kernel software might be subject to export/use controls in some countries. The features of this software are (1) an early implementation of IPv6 (aka IPng) and (2) an implementation of the IP Security specifications [RFC-1825 - RFC-1829] including kernel support for the storage of keys and other Security Association attributes and including a new "Key Management" socket known as PF_KEY.
