   Linux is even older than 386BSD, which is the ancestor of FreeBSD.
   By the time 386BSD 0.0 appeared (March 1992), i've seen Linux 0.14 (if
   my memory serves me well) on the same FTP server.

Right.  But none of those three is as old as _BSD_.  BSD code predates
all free PC "unix" systems.  In fact, it predates the Intel-based PC.
