If I try and do a dd or fdformat to a floppy disk from within X windows it will get about half way and start telling me that there are bad blocks and various other problems with the floppy disk... if I change from my X screen to one of the console logins (not the console window in X).. I can preform the operaion just fine... Has anyone heard of anything like this??? I have no explination for it other than some enviroment setting or somting funkey with Xterm... OBTW there is a stupid Colorado Tape drive in the Floppy chain... but then again it works fine from a console window... Anyway Thanks in advance for help with this wierd problem RP puga@maui.com
