   Unfortunately I have to disagree with you Michael.  Definitely wasn't
   the case with an AMD DX4/100 and my ASUS SP3G.  I did finally track
   the problem down to needing to disable some of the CPU->PCI write
   buffering, _but_ my Intel CPU didn't need it disabled.

Yes, but was it of the same vintage?

I may be mistaken, but I thought I had read that Intel has also made
some tweaks to support write-back in their processors.  Did you have
the opportunity to test an Intel chip made as recently as your AMD?

If so, then I will retract my statement.  Either way, I'd like to
know.
