Definitely wasn't the case with an AMD DX4/100 and my ASUS SP3G. I did finally track the problem down to needing to disable some of the CPU->PCI write buffering, _but_ my Intel CPU didn't need it disabled. YMMV. Yes, but was it of the same vintage? I may be mistaken, but I thought I had read that Intel has also made some tweaks to support write-back in their processors. Did you have the opportunity to test an Intel chip made as recently as your AMD? If so, then I will retract my statement. Either way, I'd like to know. -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Michael L.
