i have the same problem with my cheap no-name 28.8
well. it's actually called Phoebe, but that's a bit far from a name brand.
I have tried *all* possible com ports and irq settings, which took me about
4 days..  Why can't the sio drivers simply accept that there's a modem 
(even with a faulty UART, but still a modem) on my sio1?
