Why don't you take the time to _read_ what you're responding to, before you start ranting? I said was that it's wrong to claim, categorically, that no books on these systems exist, because lots of books dealing with BSD in general _do_ exist, including ones that are updated for 4.4BSD. I most certainly did _not_ claim that the "Unix System Administration Handbook" (or any other book) is a complete and accurate description of every single tiny facet of the internals of FreeBSD (or any other BSD), nor did I claim that the various implementations are bit by bit exactly equal to 4.4BSD. I further said nothing about "all someone needs", explicitly or implied. I _did_ say that I consider it to be a common strength of the various 4.4BSD variants that they're all BSD, which means that they are quite similar from an administrative as well as a user point of view. > *Do* enjoy trying to kill off your operating system of choice. > I can see one reason why the books on installing and running FreeBSD > aren't popping off the bookshelves -- with k-RAD d00dz like yourself > proudly proclaiming that they won't read them, why waste the time > writing the goddamn book? Again, why not try reading what you're responding to? I clearly stated that I run NetBSD on i386es and VAXen, 2.11BSD on PDP-11s. I did _not_, proudly or otherwise, proclaim that I wouldn't read any specific book, nor any one of a general set of relevant books. As for that "k-RAD d00dz" stuff, I can't really respond to it. I'm afraid I'm a generation or so too old to understand it. Maybe you could explain to me what it means among you youngsters? -tih -- Tom Ivar Helbekkmo tih@Hamartun.Priv.NO
