People aren't logging in (telnet/rlogin) to get files, they're using ftp which connects to a ftp port and handles the negotiation with ftp instead of 'login' cd ~ftp and look at how that's setup and there should be a passwd file in there that allows the ftp anonymous usage. Try man ftp and man ftpd (I'm not on a FReeBSD system at the moment so can't tell you exactly what to do.) I can tell you that you must have a ftp account in /etc/master.passwd but it should have a password that only the system adminstrator knows. later, david -- David Hawkins dhawk@netcom.com "All human wisdom is summed up in two words -- wait and hope." -- Alexandre Dumas the Elder
