hi users are trying to collect there mail and for other reasons (no
fault of the server) there machines may crash during a popper session,
and this leaves the popper session running and so stops them from
popping in again until the old popper process is killed.

Is ther any way of either setting a timeout or maying popper kill
itslef when it losses the connection?
