How can you know you won't have to use this CD-ROM on a : workstation someday? Buying SCSI means to lower the possibility to : trough away equipment because you can't predict the future. The *unknown* future is not a valid reason to pay for more computer equipment than you are going to use. Computer equipment is very likely to be cheaper, faster, better (pick any two) sometime in the future. You can always sell or find some other use for your old equipment. In fact, if somebody asks me for computer-related purchase recommendations, I always recommend against any decision based on longer than 18 months speculation. Why? Because equipment changes that rapidly. : >The ~$200 price difference could be better used for something : >like a bigger hard disk, or more memory, or a better monitor. : No, either *add* the $200 or buy more memory after a while. You can't : upgrade your CD-ROM to SCSI after a while. In the future, that $200 difference may disappear. If you are so cash strapped that you can't afford to upgrade later, wait for later.
