Which are preferred? Haven't seen a real PCI chip set problem for quite some time. But the PCI BIOS of a few motherboards lets much to desire ... To check whether the chip set is supported by the current FreeBSD PCI code, just boot with "-v" entered at the "Boot: " prompt and send me the resulting output (output of the dmesg program, the COMPLETE boot message from the /var/log/messages file). |> Also, this motherboard (Pentium 100) has 72 pin simms. Do PC motherboards use parity? Parity is not supported by many current PC chip sets anymore. But there seems to be a move towards ECC with the next generation ... Don't like this, but it cuts cost by a few dollars, and that's the only thing that counts in the PC market.
