There is a group of people that are using mmap heavily and it is getting debugged. The bad news is that there have been problems. If you use mmap on a lightly loaded system and don't use NFS and don't use INN -- it works pretty well. The stuff in current is getting a complete workover... I really apologize for the mmap problems -- they are mostly my bugs, thank goodness that INN does work pretty well without it. (BTW, I use mmap on the version of INN that I use, but my system is not normally severely loaded -- and it might actually be fixed in -current.) Keep your faith :-). John dyson@freebsd.org
