Greetings,

I am new to the UNIX system in general and FreeBSD in particular. I have
the Walnut Creek FreeBSD 2.1.0 CD and would like to install it on my PC. I
am having difficulties :(

First of all, what would you recommend as a good resource to learn about
FreeBSD.. I am interested in the installation portion. I currently have a
Promise EIDE controller to which I have two hard disks attached on the
primary port and a quad speed Creative labs IDE drive attached on the
seconday port. Looking thru the docs lead me to believe that there was a
device called 'wcd' that could be configured to recoginze this CD ROM. But
when I ran the -c option and went to id this, I got a message that there
was no such device (I had created a boot floppy for ATAPI IDE CD-ROMS).

So I copied the necssary files to my second drive and proceed to do the
installation from a DOS partition. What I would like to do, is to install
all of the necessary files on my second hard drive so that I can boot from
that one... I had heard something here about 'chain-boot' but did not
follow the full explation. Can anyone point me towards a resource that
explains what I need to do in order to boot from by D: drive instead of my
C: drive....

While I am familiar with DOS, Windows and OS/2, I am not familiar with unix
administion at all, so any help that you can provide would be deeply
appreciated...

Anil
