Two reasons: Email is more expensive for me than news (it requires more phone costs) People should learn to express their wishes by the appropriate means. Somebody who wishes to get a reply by mail instead of reading it in the News is told to set ``Followup-To: poster''. Needless to say, those folks should check the Reply-To address twice.
