Yes, Taylor UUCP is supported, don't know about HDB, but I am sure someone has 
a port of it.

Everything you need for networking is there.

PPP, SLIP, CSLIP, etc is all supported, even proxy PPP/SLIP packages are 
available, some free, some commercial.

We use BSDi and FreeBSD for our network and have no complaints at all.  SCO 
causes a great many headaches with networking.  Routing is very limited, etc. 
but is very robust in BSD.
