In case anyone is interested, the Minuteman UPS (I don't recall who makes
it) documents the use of the serial port in the manual, unlike APC.
I called APC when I was thinking of getting a UPS, and told them I want
to use it under operating systems other than the ones they support, and
asked if they would tell me the protocol, and they said no.  Screw 'em.
