Hi,

I've been using NetBSD 1.0 quite a while now with several types of Ethernet
cards.

Upon transitioning to NetBSD 1.1, I've come up with several problems/questions.

1) I've successfully used SMC 8013EPC cards (SMC 83C690 chipset) with
1.0. The kernel correctly recognizes them at 300/10/0xCC00 -- which
agrees with the setting I have set on the card with jumpers.

Upon trying to use these exact same cards with NetBSD 1.1, the kernel
reports "Kernel configured IRQ 10 != board configured IRQ 9". I
_know_ that the boards did not change during the 1.0 -> 1.1 upgrade,
as they are still hardware jumpered for 0x300/10.

I'm not quite sure where to look in the kernel sources for the
driver for this board. It _is_ configured into the kernel config file
   at ed2.

2) In prowling through the kernel looking for the SMC 80x3 driver, I found
a directory containing boot prom code. I'd like to be able to netboot
some systems I have here -- is anyone using NetBSD in this type of
configuration? Is the software in the kernel source tree the correct
stuff to burn into a boot prom?

3) I know that NetBSD 1.0 does NOT support Intel Etherexpress cards. I see
that the 1.1 install instructions indicate that the EE board IS now
supported. However, my kernel does not recognize my boards, and
the install instructions do not specify where the boards should be
configured at. My question: is this a typo, or is the Intel EE board
   really supported in 1.1?

I'm really interested in getting 1.1 up and running, and these NE2000 boards
I've been forced to use are _really_ causing pain.

I thank you in advance for any suggestions or comments you may have.

Sincerely,

Jim Miller
