X-Nntp-Posting-User: (Unauthenticated) Organization: Putnam Internet Services Message-ID: <DKn0xF.3KD@news2.new-york.net> X-Nntp-Posting-Host: main.put.com Date: Thu, 4 Jan 1996 03:41:38 GMT Lines: 18 I absent-mindedly cshsh'ed the database for root on my accounts to a shell that wasn't on the machine... now,I can't either login as root on the machine,su from any wheel account on the machine,or add any accounts to the machine because that shell's not there...and I can't install it from my other FreeBSD machine on my network because I need to be a superuser to do that.I can't ftp the executable from either end...or copy an extant shell into the /bin directory under the name the database expects to see root use... Should I go back to the boot-floppy?Try my 2.1 CD?Will it do anything helpful other than a scorched-earth reinstall losing all my apps?? HELP!! Louis Epstein le@put.com
