Yes, of course that is possible.

: Yes. Use hylafax (in the ports collection). 

You might also look at mgetty+sendfax (also in the ports collection),
which will let you do many sophisticated, useful things with fax
modems. I use it primarily to receive faxes, but also to send faxes
occasionally, and it works well.
