I am installing freebsd 1.1
I would like to put the base11 file onto my partition by simply mounting
dos and untarring it.

I got the mount_msdos program with the installation, but when I try to do
the mount,
it says that the kernel does not support msdos filesystem.

Okay! Why are the mount_msdos programs and mount_cd9660 programs there
if the kernel can't mount those filesystems?

and furthermore why can't the kernel do it?

I coud install much more quickly if I could simply copy the tar files
over and extract them!

could someone give me a hand?

thanks

Joel
