Hi All,
Well, I've finally got off my butt and tried to upgrade from 1.1 to
2.1-Release. The new installation stuff looks really slick, and I'd like to
use the "install via ftp" option, over PPP (all those floppies really sucked).

However, my modem is on COM3 (sio2). It seems that the installation kernel
only likes sio0 and sio1. In the old FreeBSD, I had to recompile the kernel,
and create the /dev/cuaa2 device manually. Obviously, I can't do this from a
boot floppy :)

So my question is :

Can one install via PPP/ftp over a COM3 modem? If so, how?
Or do I have to pop the case and force my modem to be COM1?

Thanks,
Alec
