I am trying to load up another machine, a small 486 with a floppy and an IDE disk, to be a dedicated BSD only system, using the boot floppy. Connecting the two mmachines are two SMC Elites (ed0) which seem to be configured properly because "arp -a" shows the second machine on the first. What I am trying to do is load FBSD off of the 2.1 CDROM mounted on the first machine via FTP from the second. The cdrom is mounted on /cdrom, and I've used the URL ftp://first.machine/ ../../cdrom/ from my account & password (which starts off in /home/andrewg). The load seems to start properly and /mnt/dev, /mnt/etc, /mnt/proc, /mnt/stand, /mnt/usr, and /mnt/var are all created. But then it all stops when it says "Failed to retrieve piece file bin/bin.aa!" I tried the URL ftp://first.machine/../../cdrom/dists/ but that didn't get as far before failing. What am I doing wrong here? Andrew
