And they are quite right to do so.  Many long-term Sun customers have
years of experience in SunOS [234] and see no reason why they should
have to throw it away.

Sun could perfectly well have developed SunOS 4 to have the useful
additions in Solaris 2, *without* throwing away a perfectly good
system.  Somehow I don't think it's necessary to change the arguments
to "ls" in order to get kernel threads.
