That's it. Okay, I've got a very simple network configuration here (two Ethernet-based LANs connected via SLIP over a leased modem line) but this machine is also running the DNS (domain name service) and there were only two reasons why I had to reboot it since it's up and running: NFS server for the router was away for two days, machine got screwed up (after 35 days without reboot) and hardware problems (network adapter lost contact to the slot it was built in :-) after about 30 days running.) I installed FreeBSD-2.0.5-RELEASE on another machine with more RAM as the install process found out that it won't work with only those 3 megs - and the generic kernel doesn't either with only 3 meg. I have an own kernel for that machine without all unnecessary drivers (SCSI, CD-ROM, tape streamers and so on.) Of course, that machine is unable to build an own kernel or compile anything - at least it will take almost forever, if there was enough swap space. But that's not its purpose. It's purpose is routing, and that's what it does.
