I think my favourite is pmadm -a -p tcp -s lpd -i root -m `nlsadmin -o /var/spool/lp/fifos/listenBSD -A '\0x00020203000000000000000000000000'` -v `nlsadmin -V` You what ? The rc.? "crap" is a vast improvement over one monolithic rc.local file, though. Want to add a new service ? Add a new file. Want to start/stop a service ? sh /etc/init.d/service start|stop. And fancy actually being able to shut down services cleanly, rather than hoping you can finish between the SIGTERM and the SIGKILL. I don't know how I survived without.
