SNAP's are SNAP's. They are about to be made of whatever branch seems to be appropriate. They are some sort of `courtesy' to our users. While there hasn't been any earth-shuttering change on the 2.1.X front (just several bug fixes that have been migrating there), many things have been changed in 2.2-current meanwhile, and it seems that the current of these days is stable enough to make it worth the while forking off a SNAP from it.
