Cause that will be a big help. I still : couldn't get the 2.1 to see my atapi cd-rom, and I am counting on : the next release to do just that. I assume that you know there is a separate atapi.flp to be used as a boot floppy for people who have ATAPI CD-ROMs? ftp.freebsd.org:/pub/FreeBSD/2.1.0-RELEASE/floppies/atapi.flp If this doesn't work for you, it may be because of master/slave settings. Jordan admonishes in the README: If you're using an IDE CDROM, try atapi.flp instead of boot.flp. This contains an ALPHA QUALITY ATAPI driver that may or may not work for you. Also make sure that your CDROM is jumpered as a "master" device, rather than the "slave" device that many come configured as. However, if you've already got an IDE HD configured as a master, you may run into problems if both devices are on the same bus. If you've got two IDE interfaces you might try putting the CD-ROM on the second one. -- Jeff Aitken jaitken@vt.edu
