I love the AIX volume spanning architecture, especially. This
is one area that AIX really shines.

Strictly speaking, this is an addition to my list, but the point
was not that I could only think of 10 areas where AIX was more
modern than Solaris, but that there were *any* areas at all
argued that Solaris was not the be-all, end-all OS.

The point was (supposed to be, anyway) that it was possible
for another OS to be more suitable for a task than Solaris.

One of these tasks is, I think, use as an ISP platform.

I haven't really investigated AIX as an ISP platform, but from
my experience, some of the modern features of AIX are also
its downfall for usability as an ISP platform. The biggest
one is the ability to run programs from the net without
modification, in the case that the ISP offers shell accounts.

In the case that the user is not compiling the programs,
you might be able to make a case for Solaris, if the work
is done up front by the administrator for news and mail
tools.
