Dont untar it. Use pkg_manage as root in the same dir as the .tgz file.

You have to build a kernel with "options COMPAT_LINUX" (NOT 
"LINUX_COMPAT" as at least my docs say) in the configuration file.
(For info on building a new kernel, consult the handbook hopefully in 
/usr/share/doc/handbook.)
