I have just recently set up freebsd 2.1 I am using a HP-540 deskjet. It works fine with
dos/windows but haven't managed to get it to do anything with bsd yet. I'm using the generic
kernel. The device is connected to lpt0 with IRQ7. I followed the directions in the bsd
manual for setting up the software, but no luck...the printer just sits there doing absolutely
nothing. I tried using cat <filename> > /dev/lpt0 and the printer got a sheet of paper out of
the intray and fed it to the print head, but did nothing after that... any suggestions?
TIA, Tom
