DOS installation failed as well, in exactly the same way, with -> these "wrote -1 of 10240 bytes" errors. Note that the actual point of I received a similar error installing 2.1.0 from a dos partition that was >528 Megs. I am not totally sure that was the problem, but maybe it was. I made a new dos partition on a different drive making sure it was in the 1st 528 Megs and copied the distfiles there and then had a successful install. So possiably that is your problem. I read somewhere that Enhanced IDE is not supported as of yet. Jim
