Reading the PPP FAQ I'd seen that feature of the PPP, but no other FAQ or utility makes any mention of it. The Parallel Mode is like having two or more PPP lines (let´s say 28.8kbps modems) that links to the same destination, so the modems can share the load over the line (and having a 57.6kbps or 86.4kbps or 115.2kbps connection).
