The SVr4 code base was first released in 1989. Now, 6 years later, promoters of Solaris/SVr4 can finally say, "Hey, we have all these new features, and we are as fast and bug-free as our old OS." I wouldn't be bragging about that. Six years is a long time. Maybe SVr4 is the future, but SVr4 has been historically so slow/buggy, it is hard to even believe people when they say you should take another look at it. It's like the history of OS/2. IBM released the OS with so many delays/problems, the market just said, "It ain't worth it."
