the end of the Catalog listing.

If you are interested in further information
on these products please send email to:
info@acc-corp.com with the subject: SEND DIRECTORY
to see the latest listing of technical info-sheets we currently have available.

This directory is growing rapidly.
We have been fascinated by the growth of, and interest in, these Internet based
technologies, of which Linux and the GNU products are leading examples.
We like to market products that contribute cash or other donations, to the
Internet-based developers who have made many of these products possible.
Examples include the Linux Documentation Project, who benefit from all Dr Linux,
Linux Bibles, and Installation and Getting Started books that we sell.
Slackware Professional Linux sales support the Slackware Linux distribution
available on the net, and sales of other Linux and BSD distributions either
directly or indirectly support the efforts of their developers. Of couse sales
of the commercial software products we offer directly support the efforts of
their developers in the finest capitalist tradition!
If you are interested in supporting any of the "free software" projects you can
contact the developer of your choice or:
The Free Software Foundation, or
Linux International.

We hope you find our catalog informative and useful.

Cheers, Bob.

                 THE RED HAT DEVELOPERS PROGRAM

Red Hat Inc. is pleased to announce a new program designed exclusively for
the Linux developer. This program is the first of its kind for Linux, and
it will prove to be invaluable to the serious developer whose timely access
to information is mission critical.

The program consists of the following:

1) Monthly CD-ROM updates of Red Hat Commercial Linux
Members of the Red Hat Developers Program will receive on CD-ROM the
absolute latest hot-off-the-burner Red Hat Commercial Linux release monthly.
These releases are only available through the Developers Program -- general
public releases are only made quarterly.

Each monthly release will contain new and upgraded RPPs (Red Hat Program
Packages), tracking the latest in stable Linux components and Red Hat
administration tools, as well as providing important timely security fixes.
To update your installation each month, simply mount the new CD and run the
provided update program which queries your system and upgrades all your
installed RPPs.

2) Red Hat Notes with each CD-ROM
These notes detail the changes from the previous release and related issues,
and introduce issues that will become important in the future.

3) A private developers mailing list
The developers mailing list will be used for discussion of Linux and Red Hat
Commercial Linux. It will also be used to keep members up to date on Linux
issues, saving the time and effort of searching through thousands of Usenet
posts and subscribing to dozens of mailing lists.

The many benefits of membership in the Developers Program include:

  BE THE FIRST TO MARKET
  ======================
Announce availability of your products the moment Red Hat ships a new public
release!

The ability to develop and test your products against new technologies
before they ship on a new public release of Red Hat Commercial Linux will
help you maintain a competitive edge in your market. The Developers Program
provides for this in three ways. 1) The Red Hat
Notes help you keep up with changes to Linux and Red Hat Commercial Linux.
2) The monthly CD-ROMs provide you with updated code as fast as possible.
3) The Developers Program mailing list allows instant notification of updates.

  UNPARALLELED SUPPORT
  ====================
Membership ensures your questions will not go unanswered.
Developing for Linux can sometimes feel like shooting at a moving target.
Red Hat Commercial Linux is designed to alleviate that problem, but
regardless, in today's market software developers need accurate, timely
support. Support is provided to Program members through the private mailing
list and a private support email address, which is always staffed. The
mailing list gets you the latest patches as they are produced. And finally,
the Red Hat Notes point out issues before they can cause you trouble.

  STAY CURRENT
  ============
Members spend less time looking for information, and more time creating
quality products.
In order to support applications on Linux you need to know what is in store
for Linux in the future. The CD-ROM subscription provides you with versions
of tools and utilities that may not appear in commercial versions of Linux
for months. The Red Hat Notes will highlight which developments you should
review. The mailing list gets you key information on a timely basis without
the investment of effort required to review dozens of magazines, hundreds of
newsgroups, or thousands of postings and messages.

YOUR PRIVATE LINE TO THE RED HAT DEVELOPMENT TEAM
  =================================================
Your needs become Red Hat Commercial Linux features.
Through the private mailing list, for Program members only, you will be kept
informed as to the future plans for Red Hat Commercial Linux. Indeed, your
input will count a great deal when we make important design decisions and
technology choices.

  RED HAT LINUX SWAT TEAM
  =======================
Through the Program, you may contract with Red Hat Inc.to provide
development, packaging, and installation services.

Membership in the Red Hat Developers Program is priced at $299 per
year. For more information please contact Red Hat through any of the means
listed below.

 RED HAT COMMERCIAL LINUX 2.0

Notable features:

* Fully "packagized" system for fine grained installation control,
easy upgrades, and simple distribution mechanism for your apps
* Complete sources provided
* Over 500 source and binary packages
* Automated XFree86 configuration with Red Hat Xconfigurator
* RHS graphical control-panel for configuration of users, groups,
file systems, time and date, TCP/IP, printers
* Powerful graphical installation manager
* Linux kernels 1.2.13

Red Hat 2.0 contains over 165 new and revised packages,
incorporating many important bugs fixes and security enhancements, as well
as completely new packages. In addition, the installation process has been
made even easier with a new "Express Install" feature allowing
near-unattended installations.

Built from scratch, RHC Linux represents a quantum leap in Linux usability.
RHC Linux is possibly the easiest Linux distribution to install and
maintain, and as such, it is perfectly suited to the growing numbers of
users moving from MS-DOS to Linux. While RHC Linux is the perfect
beginner's Linux, experienced users will find it to be a very powerful
development platform. Complete development tools, TeX/LaTeX suite, X Window
System, and scientific computation libraries are included -- and everything
comes with sources.

* Installation

Installation is mediated through dialog boxes which walk you through the
installation process. Installation is supported directly from the CD-ROM or
over NFS. You can choose which series of packages to install, and install
(or uninstall) individual packages after the initial installation with our
graphical Linux Installation Manager. As the installation progresses you are
presented with a progress meter, which estimates the time to completion. X
Window System configuration is automatic, requiring only the selection of
the proper XFree86 server, and the desired video modes.

* Package System

The Red Hat Program Package (RPP) system is the foundation of Red Hat
Commercial Linux. Our fully "packagized" system means that your installed
system consists of a few hundred discrete packages (RPPs). The RPP tools
allow you to install and uninstall these packages cleanly and easily. The
RPP system allows you to track and query your installed packages for
information such as creation and install dates, package size, file list,
description, etc. In addition, a package verification allows you to check
the integrity of (and make corrections to) your installed packages. The
verification procedure checks that all files are where they should be, that
they have the right owner, group and permissions, etc. Any owner, group or
permission anomalies can be corrected automatically.

* Installation Management

With the graphical Linux Installation Manager you can track every package
installed on your system, and all packages available on the CD-ROM. You can
examine package descriptions and file contents before you install them.
With a few mouse button clicks you can install, uninstall, list and verify
all installed packages. No other installation system comes close.

* Development Tools

A complete set of C/C++ development tools is provided, as are a number of
other programming language compilers and interpreters, including Common
Lisp, Prolog, Scheme, Fortran, and Tcl/Tk. Full sources for everything on
the CD-ROM are included in package format, in the configuration used to
build the system.

* Documentation

Red Hat 2.0 comes complete with the Red Hat User's Guide and 4CDs. The Red Hat User's Guide covers all aspects of installation, system administration tools and RPP management tools, RPP building and an overview of the various systems and layout of Red Hat Linux. Included on the CDs is the Red Hat distribution, a live file system (run directly from the CD), Sunsite archives and TSX-11 archives. Complete man pages, info pages, and HOWTOs and FAQs are provided, and are
searchable with a powerful integrated help tool.

 Red Hat's Linux Library CD

This Documentation CD, complied by Erik Troan of Red Hat Software, which
features a superfast browser, is a massive compilation of all the available
documentation on Linux and its related technologies. This advanced Linux
reference application is produced in partnership with Pacific Hi-Tech.

Featuring the equivalent of over 40,000 pages of fully searchable
documentation this is the tool you need to save time and frustration in
trying to find answers to your most obscure questions about Linux.

Use Red Hat's Linux Library CD to:

o. Quickly Find all the available references to any question about
Linux, the X Window System, the Compilers, etc... that has ever
been written and made available on the massive Internet
    archives.

o. Run Linux with Less Effort: Quick access to the answers you need,
when you need them will allow you to solve your Linux
installation configuration, and use, questions faster than ever.

o. Learn UNIX- You get all the reference material you need for
learning C, C++ and other Compilers, the X Window System with
window managers, full Unix networking including TCP/IP, Slip
and PPP, SendMail, email, and more...

o. Advanced Uses: Research for writing manuals for Linux products.
Historical review of the progress of these technologies.
    Technical support.

What You Get:

* Browser Application: A high speed X Window based search engine
behind an elegant graphical browser that makes searching this
    material fast and easy.
* 40,000+ Pages of Content: In short you get everything, but here is
    a partial list:
* Start with the complete works of the Linux Documentation Project
(LDP), including all texts and how-to's. Keep in mind, the LDP
represents only 1,200 pages of the searchable reference material
    on this collection!
*  Complete comp.os.linux.announce archive
* Linux and Linux related man pages
*  Internet Engineering RFC's
*  GNU docs.
* Usenet FAQ's on all the language compilers for Linux, System
Admin, Security and Privacy, JPEG and MPEG, lists of free
    software, etc...
* much more....

We are not sure how to classify this product. It is more useful than any
single book you can name, and includes a browser technology that qualifies
it as an advanced application.

We've already had reports of system administrators mounting the Linux
Library permanently in a CD drive in order to offer much faster response to
their user support calls.

Whatever you choose to use it for, you will find that this is unlike any
reference CD you have ever looked at before. The sheer volume of material
that is included and the speed of the browser technology put this CD in a
class by itself. There just isn't CD documentation like this on SUN or any
other UNIX OS. Pity. :)

Dr Linux - Just what the Doctor ordered!

The complete works of the Linux Documentation Project in convenient printed
form, the very latest versions downloaded July 1st 1995!

Highlights:

Hot off the net!
The contents of this book were downloaded off of the Internet archives on
July 1st, 1995. Our printer's direct-to-plate printing technology has
enabled us to cut months off of our turnaround time on Dr Linux, which in
the fast changing world of Linux technology is crucial.

Easy to Read!
A larger page size and better text formatting has allowed us to stick with a
readable size of print, on regular paper.
The addition of section tabs enables you to locate the section you require
instantly.

More Content - Same Number of pages!
As the amazingly productive contributors to the Linux Documentation Project
have added additional important text to their existing contributions, and
added whole new documents, the amount of information in Dr Linux has grown.
Our most important contribution to this edition was in getting all this
additional material into the same number of pages. This was accomplished
by staying with a larger format of book and using much better text layout.

Lower International Shipping costs!
Using a higher grade but lighter paper has enabled us to reduce the weight
of Dr Linux by a full 1/2 pound.

Our Contribution to the LDP and its Authors:
Like all Linux vendors we understand and appreciate that this amazing
technology, and these documents in particular, are a labor of love on the
part of many volunteers. We are grateful for the existence of the Linux
Documentation Project headed by Matt Welsh as it simplifies our decision as
to who to donate funds to. For each copy of Dr Linux sold $1 will be donated
to the Linux Documentation Project with our thanks.

 Learning Perl

Learning Perl is designed for those who seek a rapid working
knowledge of Perl. A public domain language, Perl has established
itself as the premier UNIX scripting language--replacing facilities
such as the shell, sed and awk. It is currently taking root in non-
UNIX markets as well.
Perl is a high-level, multi-purpose language. It is used in diverse
system administration tasks, while also playing an endless variety of
roles in other areas. These range from data reduction and report
generation to distributed computing and assorted auxiliary roles in
software development. Perl has even encroached upon the territory
of C and other programming languages.

 Learning the Korn Shell

The Korn shell, like the C and Bourne shells, is a program that
interprets UNIX commands. It has many features that aren't found in
other shells, including command history (the ability to recall and edit
previous commands). The Korn shell is also faster; several of its
features allow you to write programs that execute more quickly than
their Bourne or C shell equivalents.

This book provides a clear and concise explanation of the Korn
shell's features. It explains ksh string operations, co-processes,
signals and signal handling, and one of the worst "dark corners" of
shell programming: command-line interpretation. It does this by
introducing simple real-life examples and then adding options and
complexity in later chapters, illustrating the way real-world script
development generally proceeds. An additional (and unique)
programming aid, a Korn shell debugger (kshdb), is also included.
Learning the Korn Shell is an ideal resource for many UNIX users and
programmers, including software developers who want to
"prototype" their designs, system administrators who want to write
tools for their own use, and even novices who just want to use some
of ksh's more advanced interactive features.

 Managing Projects with make

make is one of UNIX's greatest contributions to software
development, and this book is the clearest description of make ever
written. Even the smallest software project typically involves a
number of files that depend upon each other in various ways. If you
modify one or more source files, you must relink the program after
recompiling some but not necessarily all, of the sources.
make greatly simplifies this process. By recording the relationships
between sets of files, make can automatically perform all the
necessary updating.
For large projects with teams of programmers and multiple releases,
make becomes even more critical. But in order to avoid spending a
major portion of your maintenance budget on maintaining the
Makefiles, you need a system for handling directories, dependencies,
and macro definitions. This book describes all the basic features of
make and provides guidelines on meeting the needs of large,
modern projects.

with security, you need this book. It's a practical guide that spells out
options for both Berkeley UNIX and System V, as well as Sun's NFS

Practical UNIX Security describes the issues, approaches and methods
for implementing security measuresÑspelling out what the varying
approaches cost and require in the way of equipment and other
resources. After describing UNIX security basics and network
security, this guide goes on to suggest how to keep intruders out of
your system, how to tell if they've gotten in, how to clean up after
them, and even how to prosecute them. Filled with practical scripts,

 sed & awk

For people who create and modify text files, sed and awk are power
tools for editing. Most of the things that you can do with these
programs can be done interactively with a text editor. However,
using sed and awk can save many hours of repetitive work in
achieving the same result.

To master sed and awk you must thoroughly understand UNIX
regular expressions, and understand the syntax of sed and awk
commands. This handbook treats regular expressions as a foundation
for learning about sed and awk and contains a comprehensive
treatment of sed and awk syntax. It emphasizes the kinds of
practical problems that sed and awk can help users to solve, with
many useful example scripts and programs.

 Tcl and Tk Reference Manual

The Tcl scripting language and Tk GUI toolkit closely associated with it form a powerful method for creating X Windows based programs. It can be used to create X applications with only a few lines of code. Extending the Tcl language with C code is trivial. By combining Tcl and C, full featured applications can be built in far less time then using a traditional C widget set.

This book provides a complete reference to the latest versions of Tcl and Tk. It includes all of the documentation that comes with the Tcl and Tk distributions along with two indexes. A permuted index is provided to reduce the amount lookups required to find the information you are looking for, while a traditional index provides completeness.

The Tcl and Tk Reference Manual provides the most complete reference to Tcl and Tk available today. It is the perfect companion to Dr. John K. Ousterhout's introductory Tcl and Tk Toolkit, providing the reference material the other lacks.

 UNIX in a Nutshell

You may have seen UNIX quick reference guides, but you've never
seen anything like UNIX in a Nutshell. Not a scaled-down quick-
reference of common commands, UNIX in a Nutshell is a complete
reference containing all commands and options, along with generous
descriptions and examples that put the commands in context. For all
but the thorniest UNIX problems this one reference should be all the
documentation you need. Covers System V Releases 3 and 4 and
Solaris 2.0.

Using C on the UNIX system

Using C on the UNIX System provides a thorough introduction to the
UNIX system call libraries. It is aimed at programmers who already
know C but who want to take full advantage of the UNIX
programming environment. If you want to learn how to work with
the operating system and to write programs that can interact with
directories, terminals, and networks at the lowest level you will find
this book essential. It is impossible to write UNIX utilities of any
sophistication without understanding the material in this book.
Even if you don't want to program at this level, familiarity with the
UNIX system interface is the mark of an experienced and fluent user.
If you want to know how the C shell performs job control or how
network addressing works, you will find the answer here. Your
knowledge of the UNIX system is fundamentally incomplete until you
can make C work for you.

 Volume 8: X Windows System Administrator's Guide

This book is the first and only book devoted to the issues of system
administration for X and X-based networks written not just for UNlX
system administrators but for anyone faced with the job of
administering X (including those running X on stand-alone
workstations). The X Window System Administrator's Guide is
available either alone or packaged with the XCD. The CD provides X
source code and binaries to complement the book's instructions for
installing the software. It contains over 600 megabytes of X11 source
code and binaries stored in ISO9660 and RockRidge formats. This will
