Buslogic/Adaptec SCSI & Seagate HDD's... Date: 17 Jan 1996 10:27:44 -0800 Organization: Pacific Rim Network, Inc. Lines: 28 Message-ID: <khan.821902830@olympic> NNTP-Posting-Host: olympic.pacificrim.net I won't *EVEN* go into why BSDI doesn't support the Adaptec 2940 series, now that they've been out for over a year... "version 2.1" yeah, whatever. I won't *EVEN* go into the fact that I couldn't get my hands on a Buslogic 946C (it was discontinued-- great, Adaptec, Buslogic, NEITHER work with my box!).. so then finally I order a Buslogic 956C. And I plug in both of my Seagate Hawk 31250(?) HDD's into it. You won't believe HOW MUCH tweaking I had to do to have the BIOS even recognize one of the drives. I still haven't been able to have the BIOS find both SCSI drives. So, to get down to the question, does anyone know what black magic I need to accomplish to get my Adaptec 956C card to find the darn Seagates? No, it's not a SCSI problem, (drives work configured identically on another system, card sees IBM drives with same SCSI id's). Once the drives show up, I suppose BSDI will run very smoothly, but if I can't get the hardware to work (and mind you it's not the hardware I *wanted* to use) what good is BSDI? -Khan (sorry for the tone, I've had multiple calls into BSDI tech support, but they've been less than helpful.) -- "I know of no rights of race superior to the rights of man." -Frederick Douglass
