I'm continuing the POSIX discussion because I think standards
compliance is an issue for choosing an OS for an ISP.

Having standards is important, but I do object to what is
effectively a "club membership fee" to obtain compliance.

Since you can't use the trademark without ceritification,
and you can't get certification without paying an authorized
testing laboratory, there's really no good reason for not
making the ceritifcation tests publically available.

A fee can still be required for certification by a testing
lab, and for trademark usage,if it comes down to it.
