I set up a device /dev/uucp which is a copy of the tty01 device except owned by uucp. (tty01 is enabled in the ttys file - is this a problem?) In the L.sys file I have the following entry: sleipnir Any uucp 38400 uucp "" ATZ OK ATDT<number to dial> CONNECT \d\r ogin:-\r-ogin: user word: password I am using a trick I read about (in O'Reilly and Associates: Managing UUCP and usenet) where I am pretending to use a direct link, by embedding the dialing instructions in the chat script field as above. However when I test the setup I get the following: bash# /usr/libexec/uucico -Ssleipnir -x9 Remote = sleipnir Pid = 13851, login name = root, uid = 0 CallOK => 0 call no. uucp for sys sleipnir Can't find uucp, assuming DIR open log file 4 <= /var/log/uucp/uucico/sleipnir log 4: No appropriate DIR L-devices log 4: FAILED (call to sleipnir via uucp) status => sleipnir out notty 822464212 822465749 0 1 2 NO DEVICE finished close log file 4 Anyone have idea whats wrong? I want to use UUCP to dial out only. Can you suggest a better way of doing this. Thanks in advance, Phil
