It's a split from NetBSD.  Take a look at http://www.openbsd.org/
They've added a few more ports and are claiming more open development
than NetBSD.  For example, they're offering anonymous CVS access so
that "normal" people may review changes, diffs, and logs themselves.

BTW, it's probably useless to start a debate about use{ful,less}ness
of Yet Another BSD.  We all have opinions on it, but I don't expect
that anyone has a One Great Truth on it...  Competition isn't
necessarily a good or bad thing--neither is excessive diversity.
