Of course people were just : >buying them with one CPU. : > : I would not "recommend" a dual-pentium Neptune motherboard unless you : needed MP support right now. Firstly Neptune has had historical problems : supporting more than (2, I think) PCI bus masters, and usually significantly : slower than Triton. The disadvantage of Triton is that it only supports : 128MB of ram (64MB cached in some cases). That limitation is usually a bit : less constraining (for example gateway applications where you might want : 2 ethernet interfaces, 1 scsi -- Bzzt -- 3 busmasters.) Hmm, I'm running two scsi controllers and 1 ethernet on a dual Neptune (all which I believe are pci busmasters), both cpu's are enabled, Solaris 2.5. What are the details of this problem? ---Bob -- +--------------------------------------------------------+ | palowoda@fiver.sns.com http://fiver.sns.com/~palowoda/ | | Solaris x86 Corner http://fiver.sns.com/ | +--------------------------------------------------------+
