Here is the specs of the beast: 386SX16 - 4Mb Ram Future Domain 800 series (buggy) SCSI disk controller 300 Mb hard disk 3C505 ethernet board (Yes, 3C505 ! ten years old, and still alive) I have two problems with this machine preventing me to do a smooth install. 1) The SCSI board don't work with more than one device. Odd, but that's the way it is. So I can't attach a CD-ROM on it. That's why I'll have to install through ftp, and a 2nd machine (my friend has got one with LINUX on). I forgot to say that this F*****g board has a special way to format disks, incompatible other controllers. 2) The 3C505 is supported by FreeBSD 2.1, but the driver is not included in the generic kernel of the boot diskette. I have FreeBSD installed home, and compiled a kernel that should be OK. The question is; what should I do to rebuild the installation bootable diskette with this kernel on it ? Thanks for a hack. ----- The fun is in the trip - not the destination -----
