is this newsgroup an acceptable place to put newbie "How to" questions.
Im new to UNIX and am very interested in learning.the local community
colleges have nothing to offer this semester on UNIX of any kind.
I'v got o'reilly's urm, usd, smm. have been searching the faq's, FreeBSD
handbook and reading man pages. And still have very many very basic, probably
obvious questions.
any recommendation on novice level books.
I need instruction on dialing out to my isp, i'v edited /etc/phones
,/etc/remote , /etc/modems and made sure /dev/cua* were there
(sh MAKEDEV cua*)
still wont dialout, im sure im missing many things, but I will learn this.
any other programs to use for dialout. some earlier post talked about using
kermit.
I installed 2.1R and have not had any success finding instruction on
moving *.tar.gz from msdos formated floppies to my FreeBSD partition
or from the msdos partion. someone just sugested to another to "mount -f
msdos /dev/sd1s1 /msdos. i tried that and it didn't work for me.What did
i do wrong?
I have many years of work ahead befor i am anywhere near the
understanding BSD most of you possess.I am facinated and intrigued with
This system, Thank you "FreeBSD Team" for making this available for me to
learn.
