I recently bought a 800MB Travan Internal Minicartridge Drive (Conner). If I try to write to the tape using the 'ft' command I get the the error messages: /kernel: fdc0: output ready timeout /kernel: fdc0: input ready timeout At boot time I get the message: ft0 Conner tape I configured my kernel as follows: controller fdc0 at isa? port "IO_FD1" bio irq 6 drq 2 vector fdintr disk fd0 at fdc0 drive 0 tape ft0 at fdc0 drive 2 I have read an article in this newsgroup, about exact the same problem. There was also a reply to this article, saying that someone (of the core team ?) was working at the tape driver. I am looking for an answer to the next questions: 1. Can I solve this problem right now, (How?) 2. or should I wait for the new tape driver ? 3. Can I expect an announcement in comp.unix.bsd.freebsd.announce ( or .misc) at the moment this driver is admitted to FreeBSD current, snapshot or stable ? 4. When can I expect an ALPHA-version of this driver to be available ? (It is NOT my intention to put pressure on anyone !!!) By the way: My IDE-CDROM works perfect with the new ALPHA-driver. So I feel very lucky anyway. Friendly Greetings, Peter Joosten peterj@oosten.IAEhv.nl
