A number of people have asked for the lsof utility for BSD/OS 2.x. An older
version of lsof was available for BSD/386 1.0 and 1.1, but kernel changes
made in the 2.0 release made that older lsof version fail under 2.x. As the
author of lsof no longer had access to a BSD/OS system, support was dropped.

I am pleased to announce that the author of lsof has re-integrated support
for BSD/OS 2.x in lsof. The current release of lsof, 3.57, supports BSD/OS
2.0, 2.0.1, and prerelease versions of 2.1 (through 2.1-RC1). It is expected
to work without changes under 2.1 when that release becomes available.

Here is an extract from the lsof FAQ explaining what it does and where to
obtain it. Note that some of the mirror sites listed may have a version older
than 3.57 that doesn't have BSD/OS support.

My thanks to Vic Abell of Purdue for adding BSD/OS support.

1.0	General Concepts

1.1	Lsof -- what is it?

Lsof is a Unix-specific tool. It's name stands for LiSt
Open Files, and it does just that. It lists information
about files that are open by the processes running on a
	Unix system.

See the lsof man page, the 00DIST file, and the 00README
file of the lsof distribution for more information.

1.2	Where do I get lsof?

Lsof is available via anonymous ftp from vic.cc.purdue.edu
(128.210.15.16). Look in the pub/tools/unix/lsof sub-
	directory.

Compressed and gzip'd tar files with PGP certificates are
	available.

1.2.1	Are there mirror sites?

The lsof distribution is currently mirrored at:
