Last I checked, the same was true for DOS (e.g. all the good BBS systems for it are NOT free). If you're going to hate something, at least do it for intelligent and informed reasons.. :-) As to the options, well, if you write it yourself then you'll probably find UNIX more fun to work in than DOS, especially when it comes time to get networking going. If you want a free version then I suggest that you browse the comp.sources.unix archives - several BBS packages have passed through there over the years (see ftp.uu.net). If you want commercial then the only option I currently know about is the MajorBBS package for BSDI - I've heard it runs fine under FreeBSD. -- - Jordan Hubbard President, FreeBSD Project
