(I'm using someone else's BSD/OS machine)

all my termcap documentation says I don't have to edit /etc/termcap
for a new terminal type, but I can't seem to get clear to work.

I have a termcap entry in ~/lib/termcap.rbcomm which begins like

  rb|rbcomm|Some Description:\

so I've tried this (from pdksh)

  TERM=rb; TERMCAP=~/lib/termcap.rbcomm; export TERM TERMCAP

but `clear' won't work. nor will it if I use

  TERM=rb; TERMCAP=`cat ~/lib/termcap.rbcomm`; export TERM TERMCAP

both times it says:

  'rb': Unknown terminal type.

I've also tried playing with TERMPATH and creating ~/.termcap --
nothing seems to be working.

am I out of luck here without root [with which I could just edit
/etc/termcap or ../share/termcap] on this machine?

please mail, and I'll summarize, or CC: me on posts, and I won't.
